How does it work?
When you’re sending money using a BSB and account number, Confirmation of Payee checks if the account details held by the recipient’s bank match the details you’ve entered. You’ll be shown if it’s a match, a close match, a no match, or if there is an error. That important information can help you decide whether you need to go back and check the details with the intended recipient, or if you feel comfortable to proceed with the payment.

The account details entered match the account details held by the recipient's bank.
Close match
The account details entered closely match the account details held by the recipient's bank. You should double check the payee name as an incorrect payment may not be recoverable.
No match
The account details entered do not match the account details held by the recipient's bank. You should double check the payee details as an incorrect payment may not be recoverable.
Error
The service could not confirm the account details you entered match.

Confirmation of Payee is a service managed by People First Bank to help keep your payments secure. If you receive any message or phone call claiming to be from Confirmation of Payee asking you to send or receive money, it is a scam.
