Interest rate changes following the Reserve Bank's recent decision

We’re increasing interest rates for existing customers, with our home, investment and business variable rate loans to rise by 0.25% p.a., effective from 19 May 2026.


We’re now finalising our decisions on deposit rates, and we will let people know as soon as possible.

Stay scam aware

Scams and fraud are evolving every single day, so it's important to stay alert. Impersonation scams can occur via email, social media, phone call or SMS and attempt to gain personal or banking information by pretending to be your financial institution.


People First Bank will never contact you:

  • for current passwords or passcodes (verification, access, or SMS)
  • for card details
  • to ask you to move your money.

If you receive a call claiming to be from People First Bank asking for these details, hang up and call us back on +13 11 82 or visit a branch so that you can be sure you are talking to us.
