Interest rate changes following the Reserve Bank's recent decision

We're increasing our variable home, investment and business interest variable rate loans to rise by 0.25% p.a., effective from 13 October 2026.

The interest rate on Dream Fund accounts will increase by 0.40% p.a., from 5.15% p.a. to 5.55% p.a., effective from 1 October 2026 for balances up to $100,000.

Scam alert: Never Share your One-Time Password

We’ve received reports of scammers impersonating People First Bank Fraud Team members and contacting customers by phone.  

The scammer may claim there has been suspicious activity on your account and ask you to provide a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your phone.

People First Bank will never ask you to share an OTP over the phone.

Sharing an OTP could give a scammer access to your banking app, allowing them to make unauthorised transactions, add your card to a digital wallet or add a new device.

If you receive a call like this, don’t share the code. Hang up and contact us directly using the details on our website or the back of your card.
