In 2025, we are celebrating 150 years since the beginnings of what is now People First Bank – a journey that started in 1875 with the founding of the Toowoomba Permanent Building Society, which would later become Heritage Bank.
Our merger with Heritage in 2023 brought together two strong, values-driven organisations. People’s Choice began in 1949 to give South Australians fairer access to finance when traditional banks shut them out. Together, we have built something stronger: still owned by our customers and still committed to putting people first.
